Amani Al-Khatahtbeh, famously referred to as MuslimGirl among her supporters, refused to accept the award from Revlon due to the recent appointment of Israeli actress Gal Gadot as the face of their new campaign. Al-Khatahtbeh accused Gadot, star of “Wonder Woman,” of supporting the oppression of women and girls by endorsing the Israel Defense Forces. The Changemaker Award was intended to recognize Al-Khatahtbeh for her contributions towards challenging stereotypes of Muslim women and her written work on politics and various other topics.

However, a Palestinian and Jordanian blogger, who is an American citizen, declined an award from Revlon due to Gadot’s support for the Israeli Defense Forces’ actions in Palestine, which goes against the values and principles of her website, MuslimGirl.com.
In a recent post on social media, Muslim Girl blogger and author Amani Al-Khatahtbeh declined to accept the Changemaker Award from beauty brand Revlon due to their association with Gal Gadot, who is an ambassador for the brand. Al-Khatahtbeh stated that she could not, in good conscience, celebrate Gadot’s ambassadorship after the IDF imprisoned Palestinian teenager Ahed Tamimi last month. Tamimi was caught on camera slapping and assaulting soldiers in the West Bank village of Nabi Saleh as well as encouraging terror attacks against Israelis. Al-Khatahtbeh believes that women’s empowerment includes all women and she would not embody the meaning of the Changemaker Award if she were to accept it in these circumstances. Al-Khatahtbeh is a vocal supporter of Palestinians and is known for her criticism of Israel.
